We will combat the issues students face in relation to accommodation by:

Achieving an agreement with the University that University accommodation rents will never increase above the rate of inflation.

Ensuring all students have access to workshops&talks surrounding their rights as tenants in rented accommodation, which is accompanied by a series of student-friendly digital resources&toolkits surrounding housing rights&processes that are accessible

Achieving an agreement with the University for a significant increase in University owned and managed student accommodation.

Securing specialist housing advisors on campus to support students through landlord disputes and contractual disagreements.

We will improve participation and non-academic facilities by:

Ensuring students have online access to book all University rooms that have availability.

11/9/19 -(GA) Following up from the Timetable working group meeting on the 10/10/19 it has been approved that students will have access to view all rooms that are available online. 

Developing and Implementing disabled sport activities on and out of campus.

Ensuring an external audit of campus accessibility is undertaken by the University and any recommended improvements are implemented.

Ensuring 'Keep Wednesday Afternoons Free' is implemented across all schools.

11/9/19 -(GA) In the last teaching committee it has been approved that a statement of "Wellbeing Wednesday" will be put onto the Universities website. Also the name KWAF (Keep Wednesday's Afternoon Free) will be changed to Wellbeing Wednesday. The reason to this is because KWAF has a stigma in other universities of sport, but Wellbeing Wednesday's caters to all undergraduate students may it be physical or mental wellbeing. Ensuring that all campuses have sufficient prayer and multi-faith room facilities that can be easily accessed by students.

We will improve the academic experience of students by:

Ensuring that all lectures are video and audio captured including ones given by external visiting visitors.

22/10/19 -(JT) Produced college statements that has been approved from the last teaching committee which will be circulated on the website and I am now writing a paper with a university staff member for guidance on using Panopto. 

Ensuring that no exams that students are required to undertake finish later than 6pm.

22/10/19 - (JT) Had various meetings with relevant university staff, space is a huge issue and I'm currently working on how to utilise the spaces avaliable to ensuring exams does not happen at 6pm

Ensuring all students have the opportunity to participate in a taster lecture before selecting modules.

22/10/19 -(JT) AHoC and DVC Education has agreed to work with me to ensuring that there is consistency with all the colleges and will be submitting a paper to be approved at the teaching committee/student experience committee 

Gaining a promise on the quality and timing of assessment feedback students will receive.

22/10/19 - (JT) Timing -aim for students to recieve feedback within the 15 working days coursework has been submitted. Currently working on a reminder/notification system for staff members. Quality -I'm currently working with a member of the CETI (Centre of Education Teaching Innovation) team on how to improve feedback for students 

Gaining an assurance that students will be given a minimum of ten days between assessment commitments.

22/10/19 -Working with the DVC (Education and Student Experience) to changing the current policy about 'bunching' deadlines

We will engage and improve the experience of postgraduate students by:

Establishing a postgraduate community in a manner that is accessible to postgraduate students.

We will improve the welfare and wellbeing of students by:

Gaining a commitment from the University on addressing the ethnicity attainment gap with a clear action plan with deadlines and measurable outcomes.

11/10/19 -(LK) Published a report on the attainment gap at Westminster and has been shared with all of the university of executive board and the head of colleges and schools. We are currently also in the process of setting a committee which would look at the ethnicity attainment gap and how it can be eradicated.  Also hoping to get the funds to have a full time member of staff whose job is to  work on the gap. 

Ensuring the counselling service is accessible to students through increased advisor capacity and effective marketing to students.

11/10/19 -(LK) Have had a meeting with the head of the counselling services to have a better understanding as to how the services can be supported. A meeting with the service is scheduled to go over the data that has been collected and hoping to have a better understanding on waiting times and the demographics of students who access the service.

Ensuring an external audit is undertaken to assess the cultural competence of support services and any resulting recommendations are addressed.

11/10/19 -(LK) Diverse Matters has agreed to conduct the audit and we secured £7000 from the university. The audit will be conducted in the next couple of months.

Ensuring the University introduces an online reporting tool for any form of discrimination or harassment where the reporter is informed of any actions and progress.

11/9/19 -(LK) We had a meeting with the relevant university members of staff and hoping to have a fully functioned system in place by January.

Ensuring specific support and events are put in place for student parents and student carers.
