We are Westminster Architecture Society (WAS), the voice for all students in the School of Architecture. Throughout the academic year, WAS aims to host a number of events which help to enrich the student experience such as student debates, lectures from internal and external guests, and other types of celebratory events. WAS is a co-founder of the London Architecture Schools Collective (LASC), which aims to unify the ideas of the various Schools of Architecture across London. MegaCrits are an example of what WAS and LASC can do to create change within the architectural community.


We aim to bring students from all ends of the spectrum together, sharing the diverse knowledge that we have. Students all have a wealth of knowledge and we try to bring people together to share this. Debates are an event in which we have made this possible.


Most importantly, we want to make our uni life fun, and that can be from any way possible including the events mentioned. We are always open to new ideas and would love to expand so come and join!

Terms & Conditions of purchasing student group memberships at UWSU


By joining any student group you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of membership and the Student Group Code of Practice. We may process your personal information for carefully considered and specific purposes which are in the interests of delivering and enhancing our services as well as adding benefit for our members. Our privacy statement details when and how we will process this data as well as your rights relating to your data.

Group memberships can be bought at any time throughout the academic year, all annual memberships expire on the last day of the academic year.

The cost of each group membership may, for example, cover use of facilities, equipment and provision of coaches. This is subject to each group's budget and should be outlined on the group page.


Refund policy

We offer a 14 days’ cooling off period for new members, effective from the day you register for membership to any student group. This will allow you to cancel your subscription without any penalty, providing that the individual making the claim has not been selected to represent the University in any BUCS fixture or equivalent competition. If you wish to cancel your new member subscription, you must notify the Students’ Union at within these 14 days in writing by e-mail. Membership fees will be refunded within 30 days of cancellation.

If the customer chooses to cancel the purchase after 14 days of the original subscription then the Union will not refund the payment as it considered that the individual will have benefited from being an activity member by having access to member information, obtaining any associated member discounts, and participated in the activity.


Group events and trials are considered by the Union as events and these fall under the purchasing tickets policy.


All other refunds are subject to the UWSU refunds policy.
