Hello and Welcome
In September 2018 the Students’ Union is hoping to relaunch to you our members, both returning and new, and we want you to be at the forefront of this, leading, championing and shaping the Union and the offering it has for all our 18,000 members.
We are delighted that you are interested in a part time role with us whilst you study, and want to make it clear that you would not only be getting a part time job with us, but becoming part of a new forward thinking, and united community with you, our students at the very front and center of all we do.
You will be the first point of contact for members who are engaging with us as an organisation, be that as a member of our bar staff, one of our campus contacts, or one of our marketing and communications roles. Student staff are our most important jobs – you will be the difference when it comes to offering a great service to Westminster students.
We will be relying on you to lead the organisation forward by taking responsibility for your role and feeding back to us.
In return you will receive an hourly rate of pay, comprehensive in-role training, and an appraisal to help you in your professional development. We will help you develop the employability and leadership skills that will help you to stand out in the future.
Your SU is looking for highly motivated, driven individuals who want to be a part of helping shape and grow a new outstanding Students’ Union with customer service and forward thinking at the heart of all it does.
Does this sound like you? Then take a look through the rest of this pack and get your application in by 12pm Wednesday 2nd May 2018.
All applicants MUST be current students of the University of Westminster for the academic year 2018 - 2019, these jobs are not available for externals or graduating students unfortunately. Students who will be joining us in September 2018 are also welcome to apply.
The University of Westminster Students’ Union Team
UWSU- A Brief Introduction
The University of Westminster Students’ Union is here to represent you – the Westminster students. When you enroll you’re automatically a member of UWSU, an organisation run by students for students. We are independent from the University - UWSU is here to represent your needs, protect your rights and ensure that the student voice is heard when important decisions are made.
As well as that, we organise a variety of extra-curricular events and activities throughout the year. The union is home to a wide range of sports clubs (known as the UWSU Dragons), Societies, performing arts, plus our very own student media - Smoke Magazine, Smoke Radio, Smoke TV and the QH.
We also host a range of big club nights and social events – from the Fresher’s Finale to the End of Year Ball, and much more throughout the academic year. These are often done in partnership with other organisations and commercial partners. UWSU also organises trips abroad for our students, including our ever-popular Amsterdam trip!
At UWSU, we’re committed to ensuring that your interactions with us are for the growth of our member’s skills, not only in their professional lives, but in their personal development too. As such the priority in these positions is to ensure that you are gaining valuable experiences in the workplace outside of your studies that you can take into the wider world!
UWSU exists to:
- Represent the views of students to the University in order to improve the student experience.
- Provide a wide range of social and recreational activities including events, sports activities and student societies.
- Support students during their studies through information, advice and advocacy.
- Provide opportunities for students to take up leadership roles and develop their employability skills.
