► About us

My fellow writers,

Welcome to the land that brought men and women forth from the reaches of the EAST to the WEST, they came here to do writing!!!!

The mission of this society is to bring together like-minded people who have desire of becoming an author, playwright or even a poet. Or just want to improve themselves. Writers such as Shakespeare, Dickens, Melville, Iliad, Homer and others are known throughout history for their pieces of literature, if you want to remembered even after all these years, then writing is for you. We will be united by helping each other, critizing each other's writing, but constructively. We will focus on and try to make this one of the best societies in this university. Wait (add pause), this country.

Everyone is a writer in their own way, people say you need to have talent. Well, maybe, but in this case talent is just really practice, practice, nothing else, oh wait, silly me, and feedback. Also, when you hear people critizing your work, don't give up, because writers need to be tough skinned in order to survive. Furthermore, good luck. Hope you enjoy this society.

You are not alone. If you want advice on anything, we will all try and pitch in. Sometimes, it's hard to ask a question because we feel we will be ridculed, but in all honesty, don't be. I will listen to them personally, if you want. With no-one else around. If you have any ideas on how to improve our website email the society.

It is a promise that, throughout this Academic Year, many events will be created. Some of our ideas are:

1. Field Excursions
2. Motivational speeches
3. Writing opportunities
4. Theatre opportunities
5. Competitions to win prizes
6. Job opportunities.

The most important factor that everyone should think about, is that we are spending three years together....in this wonderful city, not because I have a friend named it, London. When years go by, it would be horrible to think "Why didn't I do that?" or "What if...". Remember, we want to improve and improve, we want to live, we want more, but we can only get it through opportunities and nothing else.

We will try to invite as many inspirational and motivation speakers to tell us why they like writing and how they became famous, and we will try to bring them in from different countries if possible.

"The pen is mighter than the sword".-Edward Bulwer-Lytton
"The most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shock-proof, shit detector. This is the writer's radar and all great writers have had it." -Ernest Hemingway
"If you wish to be a writer; write!"- Epictetus
"Writing is what brought man closer to God... than anything else."-Mahmoud Elsherif
