► Imperialism and Resistance

 Imperialism is word usually encountered by the woman/man in the street in media articles about war, terrorism and famine but it's meaning seldom really understood. This is because our media is owned and directed by a hegemony interested in maintaining the interests of corporate capitalism and keeping us in the dark as to what they're really up to. (don't believe me? google the 'War on Democracy' by John Pilger)  Imperialism manifest itself culturally , politically, economically, and militarily. Witness our presence in Iraq and the misery it creates. This has everything to do with capitalism's desire to control  oil  resources and nothing to do with democracy. Similarly our government's support of Israel in its barbaric treatment of the Palestinians in Gaza. Oil. Imperialism can manifest economically. Western governments bully poorer nations into adopting Neo-liberal economic policies thereby making it easy for our capitalist thugs to exploit them. They're told to toe the line or forget about any aid. MacDonald's strips rainforests down to feed their cows and Coca - Cola has south American trade unionists murdered. I think it's safe to say this should be resisted. If you think it has nothing to do with you think again next time your student fees go up. The money that could be spent on Education, Housing , and Healthcare is being spent on War instead.
