About Us

The Westminster Chinese Society was founded in 2006 by Alan Tse on Facebook, however an official society was not set up in the university. In 2007, Alan left Westminster and Kam Cheng took over as President and set up a larger society: The Westminster Oriental Society (WMOS). Under Kam's reign, WMOS had organised meals, karaoke nights and clubbing events for it's members in which proved to be successful (check out the photos as evidence!)

In the coming year, WMOS hopes to bring it's members more memorable fun and chaos and on behalf of the new president Tony Lee and the whole WMOS Crew, I hope to be seeing you at the next event!

Compared with most other universities in London, the University of Westminster has (or appears to have) a very small number of Oriental students, which makes it difficult for Oriental students to get to know one another. The Westminster Oriental Society (WMOS) hopes to change this by creating a large community of Oriental students studying at Westminster to know others from similar backgrounds to socialize and have fun. WMOS will do this by organising events such as meals and karaoke nights for WMOS members to get to know each other; as well as clubbing events in which you get to meet students from other Universities. Once you got to know each other you will at least say 'hi' or smile and no more staring.  Lets say if you're chinese for example, you know if you see your people (chinese) coming on the bus, you would stop whatever you're doing and stare. Or say when you're on the bus or train talking in Chinese, when you realise there's another chinese you would either stop talking or lower your voice. You know how it is.

Non-orientals are obviously welcome to join!! We've had other people from different ethnic background joining us. So feel freeeeeeee!!
