Join our Research Pool

Join our research pool
By joining our research pool you will be putting yourself forward to take part in focus groups, telephone interviews and mystery shopping where you will share your views on a particular topic – like how you find the personal tutor system or your views on student social spaces.
We have recently run focus groups about Westminster life and the University's assessment feedback, and we will be running more focus groups throughout the academic year.
The information we gather will be used in the Students’ Union’s day to day work. For example the findings could inform the representation work we do with the University or help us to develop a new support service for students.
All of what you tell us will be used to improve things for Westminster students.
How does the Research Pool work?
The Students’ Union will have a record of the students who have applied to join the pool. When we want to run a focus group, carry out telephone interviews or mystery shopping exercises we will select students for the research activity based on the information provided.
When you apply to join the research pool we will ask you to provide some specific details (like what campus you are based at, if you live in student accommodation etc). This information will be used to help us select students for our different research projects. In some instances we may just want a specific group of students for example part-time students studying postgraduate courses at Harrow, on other occasions we may want to speak to a wide range of students.
