Student discounts

Studying in London doesn’t mean you have to be out of pocket and constantly skimp on luxuries – there’s a lot of student discounts that you can take advantage of, from transport to shopping, entertainment and eating out.

Student Oyster card
Students can save money on travelling around London by getting a Student Oyster card. The card gives you a 30% discount on weekly, monthly and annual tickets for travel on the Underground, buses and trains in London.

Find out more and apply for your Student Oyster card here.

16-25 Railcard
Students can save money on National Rail train travel by getting a 16-25 Railcard. The card allows you to save 1/3 on train fares across the UK.

Find out more and apply for your 16-25 Railcard here.

NUS Extra card
Fashion, travel, sport, music, technology and going out are all aspects of student life - but they all cost money and when you’re a student every penny counts!

The NUS Extra card gives you exclusive student discounts from a variety of leading retailers, restaurants and leisure outlets.

Find out more and apply for your NUS Extra card here.

Save even more £s...
Some retailers, restaurants, pubs, bars, leisure outlets and travel companies have their own unique student discounts (usually around 10-20%) without the need for an NUS Extra card.

These places only need you to show your valid university ID card, and you'll get your discount!

If a student discount is offered, you'll usually find it being advertised on the shop window or inside. But if you're unsure feel free to ask - if you don't ask, you don't get - and the worst they can say is no!

And don't forget to look on the internet - companies also offer online only student discounts at popular times (August-September) or even all year round, so keep your eyes peeled.
