Student design team

We are looking for talented and creative students to form our ‘student design team’ and do some paid design work for the University of Westminster Students’ Union (UWSU).
There are lots of things going on for us to tell students about which means we need bright, colourful and inventive designs to help us to communicate with students. And we believe Westminster has the talent to help us do this.
Who we want
- Creative students with great design ideas that can be turned into reality.
- Students who will meet deadlines and can work well with others.
- Ideally we are looking for Westminster students who are currently studying towards one of the Art and Design courses, but if you are a student doing a different course with a real talent for design then feel free to apply.
What you’ll get
- Money: payment for each job will vary depending on what we’re asking you to do but you could earn in the region of £50-£100 per job.
- Experience: you’ll be working on professional pieces of work.
- Portfolio: you will receive a hard copy of any materials you produce which can go in your portfolio.
- Guidance: you will receive advice and guidance from the UWSU marketing and communications team.
What will the new student design team do?
The types of design work include posters and flyers as well as adverts for our website and TV screens in the bar. You will mainly be designing for our big one-off events for example, elections, end of term balls, special bar events.
How does the student design team work?
We want up to 20 students who will form our ‘student design team.’ The design team will be emailed a design brief; asking them to submit ideas if they would like to work on the project.
We will then choose the one that fits our project the best. The student we choose will work on the project, to a deadline, and be paid for the job.
How to apply
Email uwsuadmin@westminster.ac.uk with the following information:
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Three examples of your work that best represents your design style.
- Please tell us, in no more than 300 words, how you approach a design project – from idea to end result – and how you manage your time to meet the deadline.
