► Freshers

We have put on a fortnight of events to give you a proper welcome to the University of Westminster. There’s something for everyone so take a peek at some of the highlights below…

Mix up Monday
On Monday 5 October we kick off Freshers with the launch of our brand new weekly night – Mix up Monday.  Here you will be treated to a good mix of your favourite tunes we have everything from indie to pop, cheese to rock and a bit of RnB too.

It takes place at our Intermission bar on Marylebone campus and at the Undercroft bar on Harrow campus, 7am to 12pm.  Free entry.

Freshers’ Fairs

We are holding two big Freshers’ Fairs (Thursday 8 at Marylebone and Friday 9 at Harrow) where you can find out more about UWSU and all of the activities on offer.  Our sports teams and societies will be there to tell you about the different clubs we have and there will be plenty of stalls giving away some free stuff.

It’s free to enter and there will be entertainment in the shape of a steel band and DJs.  Plus if you are going to the Marylebone Freshers’ Fair – you’ll have the chance to ride a rodeo or take to our jousting platform.

Spoken Word

Our Spoken Word night on Tuesday 13 October at Intermission offers an opportunity to hear title winning poets and MCs including Tshaka Campbell who comes to you all the way from San Francisco.  His accolades include the 2004 Nuyorican Slam Team title, 2005 San Francisco Grand Slam Champion and 2007 Hollywood Grand Slam Champion titles.
We are also giving you the chance to pit yourself against the professionals in an MC battle.  Contact Robin Law for more information r.law1@wmin.ac.uk.

Sports Day
Find the sport that is perfect for you at our Sports Day on Wednesday 14 October.  Whether you are a seasoned sportsperson, an eager beginner or just fancy trying something new; come and joins us on Sports Day and give one of our sports a go.

Crazy Cousinz
Funkin’ Thursday presents Crazy Cousinz.  The London born producer collective brings the UK house scene to Marylebone’s Intermission bar.  They will be performing some of their hottest remixes including tracks from Estelle, Alisha Dixon, Jay Sean, KIG and Lemar.

Freshers’ Ball
A fortnight of Freshers fun comes to an end with the ultimate party – a Freshers’ Ball at Pacha nightclub on Friday 16 October featuring a live performance from Marcella Woods and a DJ set from Bodyrox DJs.  Plus University of Westminster students have a chance to take to the turntables at Pacha through our DJ competition.

Save £3 on the price of your Freshers’ Ball ticket by booking before 9 October.
