► Health & Wellbeing

The Health Service provides urgent treatment for most ailments, injuries and ill health. They offer advice on chronic problems and disabilities which may affect your studies or university life. Advice is given on vaccines, sexual health and contraception (free condoms are given out), and have introduced free Chlamydia testing. Dentistry and lifestyle issues (like anxiety, homesickness, flat sharing and nutrition) can also be advised on and discussed. It is a nurse-run service, so to see a doctor you must make an appointment via one of the nurses. The service is open during university hours, term time only.

How can I claim a refund for a dental charge I have already paid?
You may be able to claim a refund if you are on a low income and have already paid for a dental check or treatment. Claims must be received within 3 months of you paying the charge. Ask for a receipt - you will need it for your claim. Use refund claim form HC5.

Claim forms are available from the Students' Union and the University Health Clinics, as well as at Post Offices and GPs.  You can also request a form by telephoning 0845 850 1166.
