Be part of a landmark event in London on 5th-7th December – The Logan Symposium. World-leading journalists who have exposed some of the worst crimes imaginable over the last fifty years are speaking out against mass surveillance and increasing censorship. They will be joined by artists, hacktivists, not-for-profit groups and students in standing up for a world with free speech, a free internet and a free press.
At this event there will be a three day ‘pop up’ online TV station for and by young people, called newsPeeksLIVE. We’ll be presenting from the event, we’ll have exclusive in-depth interviews with the speakers, explanatory videos, and some special surprises in store too!
We are having a contest for University of Westminster students to win a pair of tickets to the Logan Symposium. We have two pairs of day tickets for day one, Friday 5th December, at the Barbican Centre. There will be a full schedule of world-class speakers such as John Pilger, Laura Poitras and Seymour Hersh, as well as interactive workshops, a Crypto Bar with encryption and tech advice, films, refreshments, and a light lunch too! All you need to do to enter is follow newsPeeks on Facebook or Twitter, and post #newsPeeksLIVE, along with the name of your university (for example #newsPeeksLIVE University of Westminster). The contest closes at 4pm on Wednesday December 3rd; we’ll contact the winners later that day. You can enter as many times as you like.
NewsPeeksLIVE is brought to you by NewsPeeks, a soon-to-launch news organisation for young people in the UK, and 19 year-old Tarquin Ramsay, who is in the final editing stage of his feature length documentary, Free Speech Fear Free, to be released 2nd March 2015.
